This pre-seminar is designed for curious dancers who wish to deepen their understanding of tango through the experience of the double role, in a spirit of exploration, precision, and shared enjoyment and where structure becomes a pathway to freedom rather than a limitation.
This pre-seminar offers a lively and accessible exploration of the dual role, drawing on our experience as dancers who have worked extensively with both roles and their dialogue. We will share practical tools to make transitions natural, readable, and organic, clarifying each partner’s role in order to create an egalitarian dance where both partners are fully protagonists.
We will explore several essential axes that support the development of a dance that is at once more fluid, more structured, and more musical, cultivating freedom in movement through precision of information, regardless of the role we are dancing.
FLUIDITY & ROLE TRANSITIONS - momentum as a guiding thread
We will explore continuity of movement and the quality of transitions from one role to another. How does momentum travel through the body? How can fluidity be maintained while changing roles within the dance?
TANGO STRUCTURE - from the walk to the giro ‘code’
We will revisit the fundamental structures of tango, particularly the logic of the walk and the giro. Understanding these structures helps clarify roles, anticipate dynamics, and open greater freedom in improvisation, without losing the grounding that supports the dance.
SHARED MUSICALITY – exploring how leader and follower engage in a dialogue through movement, combining listening, impulse, and response.
We will explore the musical dialogue made of questions and answers in movement, where freedom and precision support one another.

After more than 20 years of professional tango career, each on their side, Sigrid & Maria has transformed their respect and friendship with each other into a tango-duo. They continue to seek the excellence side by side as ‘sisters’, enriching and challenging each other on human, pedagogical and artistic levels.
Over the years, they both danced with different parners in the "classic" male/female configuration among others with Gianpierro Galdi (Maria) and Murat Erdemsel (Sigrid). Their experiences of the past collaborations have tought them that what really matters is the content, the philosophy, the vision, the sensitivity, the mutual respect and the curiosity - and certainly not the gender.
What connects them deeply and makes their approach so special is their somatic approach to movement. They propose many body awareness explorations to increase the dancers sensitivity and understanding of the structure of tango as well as the internal rules of the body in motion.
When teaching double role, they focus on what the two roles have in common, rather than breaking them down separately. They always relate the concepts studied in class back to the idea of connection.
They also address more personal and psychological issues on the different dimensions of both roles.
Their teaching is precise, sincere and creative. This, combined with a portion of playfulness results in a deep and joyful experience and empowers the poetic expression which is hiding in each of us.
Their intention is to make people to question and to discover concepts or change perspective on things they might have been doing for years, to give sense and depth to their dancing and help them grow.
This very personal approach makes studiing with them a fascinating and insightful journey.
Their teaching is newly enriched by the study of BODY MIND CENTERING® (Sigrid), GYROKINESIS® and GYROTONIC® (Maria).
